Target Beneficiaries
The target beneficiaries of this project are the urban poor families
being assisted by DIMAN in Indonesia. These families live in urban poor
communities. The community will benefit directly from weekly meetings
through training on basic business management and health education. One
of the effects of DIMAN program is that now the people are free from
moneylenders and have the ability to develop their business properly.
Improvements in the local economy and standard of living will also take
place.
Primary Target Groups
DIMAN's current focus is on the region of Banten, Jakarta, West Java and Sumatra. DIMAN's primary Target Groups are:
- Low income urban and rural women, including widows and those with little social support.
- Unemployed and poorly educated urban people, including street vendors.
The Need for Micro-finance
One of the principal causes of poverty in Indonesia is the lack of remunerative jobs. Employment opportunities are particularly vital to the country's development needs, not just to give its people a sense of worth, but also to avoid increasing pressures on the nation's infrastructure as the population grows and matures. However, as noted above, the employment rates are very low, especially amongst the youth. The alternative is to start their own businesses but the prospects for doing so are limited. There are very few options for people wanting to borrow funds, even from moneylenders. The microfinance services provided by DIMAN will fulfill a crucial pre-requisite in the economic growth of Indonesia.
Diman Peduli
As
the concern to people in need, Diman provide wrapped-rice package free
of charge to the pedicab driver starting from the previous mid-April,
Diman. Temporarily, the target is the pedicab drivers who operate their
pedicab near to Diman’s headquarter office.Diman’s headquarter staff enthusiatically drive their motorcycles to distribute the wrapped-rice. Seen the hungry and exhausted faces before, they were happy immediately as Diman team came to give the wrapped-rice package. For now, Diman just starting with 100 (a hundred) package wrapped-rice.
